The Gateway to Careers Internship program celebrated its very successful year by inviting their sponsoring employers to an end of the year breakfast to thank them for launching their careers and partnering with Gateway Regional. As part of the celebration, each intern gave a PowerPoint presentation of their experience and what they learned. Gateway to Careers internship teacher, Michael Joyce, and counselor, Melissa Eckstein proudly watched as each intern explained what they learned and how their experience was life changing in some cases. Internships included experiences in physical therapy, marketing, engineering, film production, education, fashion merchandising, event planning and political science. Participating employers included Donnybrook Productions, Sickels Engineering Associates, Rendell Center- University of Pennsylvania, Alicia DiMichele Boutique, Valleybrook Country Club, and both Gateway Regional High School, and National Park Elementary. Our appreciation goes out to these employers supporting the young people in our community.
Imagine getting college credits at the same time as getting high school credits. That is exactly what students at Gateway Regional did last year. Students earned credits in English, World Languages, science, math, and speciality electives in joint dual credit programs with Camden Community College and Salem Community College - all at a substantially reduced cost. Research has shown that students who earn advanced college credits in high school have a great chance of graduating and finishing college. For more information how your child can take advantage of this opportunity, talk to your guidance counselor.
